The Sheryl Smith Memorial Scholarship

SHERYL SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATES

SPONSORED BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF INTERIOR DESIGNERS, MINNESOTA CHAPTER

BIO Sheryl Smith, Allied ASID, CID

Sherry was a designer with extraordinary vision, ambition, class and pride- an entrepreneur who's projects can be found spanning her native MN  and  further. After graduating suma cum laude at the U of M and becoming part of ASID, Sherry began her own business, Interiors by Design. She continued to "wow" her clients in whatever she designed: from ultra luxe condominiums to retro inspired Alzheimer's care facilities and everywhere in between. When business expanded and Sherry needed help in her office, she began mentoring interns from a local high school.  Truly, through these exceptional few, she felt accomplished in passing on her legacy.

Sherry continued to design well after she had been diagnosed with a rare neurological degenerative disease, and finished her last large project (the Wealshire of Bloomington) before closing Interiors by Design. Sherry passed away on April 19, 2015. When it came time for her services, her daughter and husband requested that a memorial contribution be made to fund a cause she was deeply passionate about: to aid and inspire ambitious young women to pursue their dreams and become ASID accredited designers.
